From Trash To Treasure: Recovering value from the waste stream

6:00; Reception

6:30; Program

Each year, Philadephians generate about 700,000 tons of trash.  But we are virtually throwing money in the garbage since much of that waste has real financial value. In fact, an audit of the city's recycling program suggested the City could save as much as $17 million a year through recycling.

Come learn about how the City's efforts to increase recycling and reduce waste saves precious tax dollars.  Also hear form a local company about the value found in discarded construction and demolition waste.  Lastly, representatives from RecycleBank - the company behind Philadelphia's Recycling Rewards Program - will talk about how RecycleBank has built a successful model to reward people for recycling.

Panel:

  • David Biddle, Recycling Coordinator, City of Philadelphia
  • Avi Golen, Revolution Recovery
  • Carla Castillo and David Kinsey, RecycleBank
